Ultrasound

An ultrasound machine uses sound waves to create a picture of organs, tissues, and other internal body structures.

What is ultrasound ?

An ultrasound machine uses sound waves to create a picture of organs, tissues, and other internal body structures. It is particularly efficient in imaging of abdominal organs, heart, eyes, and in selected cases lungs (ultrasound-guided tissue-sampling procedures). Unlike x-rays, ultrasound does not use any radiation. It is capable of showing the parts of the body in motion, such as a heart beating or blood flowing through blood vessels.
