We fully understand that visiting us with your animal, especially if she or he has to stay with us for the treatment, can be very stressful. But rest assured – we are commited to the best possible care of your animal! So, while waiting, take a moment to visit Postojna or the surrounding area.
A fantastic 24 kilometers of tunnels, passages, galleries and halls Postojna cave offers a unique experience of the subterranean world. It is one of the longest Karst cave systems and the largest tourist cave in the Dinaric karst. A train ride through the subterranean world may be fun, but diversity of Karst features is astonishing!
The Predjama Castle is only 9 kilometers from Postojna cave. The castle is built in front of a natural rocky vault, high up in the wall, behind which lies a fantastic subterranean karst web of tunnels, galleries and halls, just as fantastic as are the stories that have been wailing around the castle since 1274. We are sure you will be enchanted.
Ascent to Nanos
Drive to Razdrto, park and climb to this high Karst plateau which separates the continental part of Slovenia from the coast. The paths will lead you uphill, and the hike in one direction will take you at least 2 hours, but the views towards the sea in the south, especially from the church of St. Hieronim over the beautiful Vipava valley will be worth all efforts. Nanos - we can show it to you with our finger from our Hospital.
Biking around Postojna
You will be impressed by the mighty and secluded castles on the way. Feel the beat of the countryside of the Postojna region and enjoy the unspoilt nature by bike. Enjoy some fresh air while visiting many attractions.
In Postojna, we prefer to go to Štorja pod stopnicami. In the summer heat or windy winters it’s so cozy inside, but nice spring days and late summer evenings, the patio outside is where we sit. Burgers, Štorja pasta, or some more demanding plates … don’t forget to check with the chef at the end what's sweet today.
