Marin Torti studied veterinary medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia, where in 2006, after successfully defending his graduate thesis, obtained the degree of a doctor of veterinary medicine. Immediately after completing his studies, Marin became a trainee at the Veterinary Station of the City of Zagreb, Small Animal Clinic, but soon joined the team at the Clinic for Internal Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb.
During the PhD program, Marin was focusing his research on vector-borne diseases and their influence on the clinical signs and course of canine babesiosis. He was awarded with the PhD in 2013.
Since 2009, Marin has been specializing in veterinary cardiology (primarily at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Austria) and in 2014 he started a residency training with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, subspecialty of cardiology (ACVIM-Cardiology), at the Small Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Medicine Faculty, Ludwigs-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany. Marin completed all the requirements of the residency training and became a Candidate for Board examinations with the ACVIM-Cardiology.
