It was her great love for animals that made Anja Lisjak want to become a veterinarian when she was a young child. After Anja completed high school, she enrolled in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from which she graduated in 2013. In the same year, she passed the state exam and was licenced to practice veterinary medicine. While still a student, Anja was working as a veterinary assistant at the Small Animal Clinic of Veterinary faculty in Ljubljana, later as a veterinary assistant and, since 2014, as a doctor of veterinary medicine at Animal Hospital Postojna.
Her greatest field of interest is veterinary dermatology. She had the honour of visiting the Veterinary faculty in Zurich, Switzerland. There she had an amazing opportunity to work with the best specialists in veterinary dermatology. To further broaden and deepen her knowledge, Anja regularly attends European and world dermatology congresses. As she is also interested in investigative dermatology and skin immunology, she started her PhD program of Molecular genetics and Biotechnology at the University of Nova Gorica in 2016. In addition to dermatology,
Anja finds her inspiration in anaesthesiology and oncology – be it with her clinical cases or attending congresses and courses. For Anja, working as a veterinarian is a passion, a way of life. As an animal lover, she always takes care that animals in Animal Hospital Postojna can find friendship and compassion, in addition to excellent veterinary care.
